“II Rettore dell’Università degli Studi dell’Aquila Edoardo Alesse esprime, a nome di tutto l’Ateneo, sentimenti di sgomento e di profondo cordoglio per la tragica scomparsa di Hadi Zaiter, studente UnivAQ morto nei bombardamenti della città libanese di Baallbek, nel sud del Paese, nell’ambito dell’intensificarsi degli scontri tra Israele e Hezbollah.

Hadi aveva 25 anni ed era un nostro studente internazionale, iscritto al secondo anno della laurea magistrale in ingegneria civile. Era andato in Libano alla fine del secondo semestre per fare visita alla famiglia e sarebbe dovuto tornare all’Aquila tra qualche giorno per la ripresa delle lezioni. Era un ragazzo ben voluto da tutti, che si era ambientato molto bene sia nella nostra comunità accademica che in città. Hadi è deceduto a casa sua, e con lui sono morti anche la madre, il padre e due dei suoi tre fratelli.

Mentre piangiamo la sua morte, come Ateneo ci uniamo agli appelli della comunità internazionale affinché cessino immediatamente, in Medio Oriente, tutte le operazioni militari e si torni il prima possibile a percorrere la via del dialogo e delle soluzioni diplomatiche.

Al fratello di Hadi, Ahmed, unico membro superstite della famiglia, giungano le nostre più profonde e sincere condoglianze.

“The Rector of the University of L’Aquila, Edoardo Alesse, expresses, on behalf of the entire University, feelings of dismay and deep condolences for the tragic death of Hadi Zaiter, a UnivAQ student who died in the bombings of the Lebanese city of Baallbek, in the south of the country, in the context of the intensification of the clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.

Hadi was 25 years old and was one of our international students, enrolled in the second year of the master’s degree in civil engineering. He had gone to Lebanon at the end of the second semester to visit his family and was due to return to L’Aquila in a few days for the resumption of classes. He was a boy well-liked by everyone, who had settled in very well both in our academic community and in the city. Hadi passed away at his home, and with him also died his mother, father and two of his three brothers.

As we mourn his death, as a University we join the appeals of the international community to immediately cease all military operations in the Middle East and to return as soon as possible to the path of dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

To Hadi’s brother, Ahmed, the only surviving member of the family, we extend our deepest and most sincere condolences.
